Letter to Investigator About Mormon Archeology
Dear _______,
It was great meeting you the other day with the missionaries and I especially appreciate your candor and openness in learning about the gospel of Jesus Christ. Here a couple of websites you can explore that have a lot of interesting things regarding Book of Mormon evidences:
Both sites have a lot of resources regarding all things related to Mormon apologetics. I don’t know if it has the smoking gun you might be looking for because I’m not sure one exists. Of course, there are also a lot of interesting books not on the web that have a lot more information as well.
Let me reiterate that the most important piece of evidence about the Book of Mormon is the Book of Mormon itself. Consider the origins and imagine if it were possible for Joseph Smith to produce such a book without Good’s help: A 531 page book written in less than 80 days by a 23/24 year old uneducated boy from upstate NY in the early 1800s with no corrections, concerning an unknown nation fulfilling the prophecies of the bible that withstands the test of time and has culminated in 13 million members world wide almost 200 years after it was originally published.
There has been no credible alternative theory that the Book of Mormon was written by anyone other than Joseph Smith. He either wrote it out of whole cloth, or translated it as the word of God. There is no middle ground. When reading some of the following articles, consider ‘How could Joseph Smith have known that?’ I think when you consider this in light of all the amazing details surrounding the coming forth of the book of Mormon will verify what the Holy Ghost already has; that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, that the Church of Jesus Christ was indeed restored for these days and that there is a plan for all of us.
The articles that I suspect you are most interested in can be found on the following page:

You can browse by book in the Book of Mormon or by topic. I suspect the “Book of Mormon Archeology/Geography” section is right up your ally, but consider the other topics as containing important “evidence” as well.

Within this topic, I found the one on Nahom the most interesting. It is a place mentioned in 1 Nephi 16:34 as already being previously named. Up until that point in their journey through the desert, Lehi and his family named geographical locations after family members (ex: Valley of Lemuel), but Nahom is the first place that appears to already have a name. About 30 years ago, archeologists found a place called Nahom in Yemen which apparently is a cemetery. This is appropriate because this is the place where Lehi and Ishmael were buried in the Book of Mormon. “How could Joseph Smith have known that?”
Anyway, hope you enjoy the websites. Let me know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Adam Partridge
